About Fernando Martins

Fernando is a portrait and cultural photographer based in Portugal, fascinated by the richness of human stories across cultures. He focuses on everyday people and their environments, seeking to capture the richness, dignity, and complexity of local life wherever that may be.

His journey as a photographer began as a teenager when his father, also a passionate photographer, nurtured his curiosity by giving him his first camera. That early desire to explore and document quickly transformed into a passion for capturing people and place. Today, Fernando's career has evolved into visual storytelling: not just making images, but crafting meaningful narratives through them.

He is interested in talking about, and depicting, cultural identity, human connection and diversity, often pairing intimate cultural portraits with landscape and travel images. Each subject he focuses on explores something personal about them and as well as something universal about us. Regardless if it is a street vendor in North Africa or a fisherman along the coast of Portugal, Fernando aims to create imagery that operates in the realms of both intimate and impersonal.

Fernando's work is available for editorial licensing, brand collaborations, and travel commissions. He's always open to partnerships that value authenticity, cultural respect, and compelling storytelling.
